About Me

My name is David Fu. I am a web user interface developer and designer who lives in sunny San Diego.

I have been extremely interested and supportive of the internet since I first discovered it in high school in ‘97. Back then, the concept of linking different computers in a massive network across the world, was somewhat geeky, but it was extremely inspiring to me. As a teenager and internet n00b, I saw it as a path to channel and express my inner ego. I simply wanted to create a personal website, so the world could know who I was. Yep that’s why I got in the web!

So during lunch everyday, I would spend my time in the library surfing websites and viewing their sources. It was like learning how a car worked by playing with all the parts under the hood of all the cars you can get a hold of. The information was easily accessible, but figuring out how to use it was the tricky part, it was like figuring out a puzzle which was the exact challenge I loved. There was a lot of trial and error, as I carefully built my mental model of how the web worked.

Till this day, I am still working on that mental model as things with the web are still ever so changing. I feel that I have lost the need for expressing my inner ego. Instead, I have found an appreciation for the knowledge and experience that I have accumulated. As the internet matured over the years, my relationship with it has matured as well. I have come to value and adopt a philosophy of practicing clean and elegant code and design.

I am a dreamer by nature, usually a day-dreamer. I love day-dreaming about what the web would look like in 5-10 years. Looking into those dreams I hope to contribute to the future of the web.
